During their third year of life, children become more and more curious. It’s that natural sense of curiosity that we use to teach them to discover and grow. Within our home-like classroom, your child is free to be anything from an artist to an engineer. There are opportunities for children to initiate activities as well as for teacher initiation. Preplanned activities lead to children’s recognition of their own achievements, and promote children’s developing attitudes as “learners”-using their curiosity, creativity, and initiative. Our Junior PreKindergarten program follows the marvelous, explosive growth of the first years of life and precedes the serious business of formal schooling. It is a time of enormous educational strides in language and conceptual thinking, and in the development of self and social skills. Teachers encourage questions, and plan open-ended projects to stimulate deeper thinking.
Our Junior PreKindergarten program offers a rich variety of projects and activities that build upon established foundations for learning while focusing on advancing language ability, mathematical reasoning, and scientific thought. Our teachers encourage all children to develop independently, as well as in small groups, promoting positive social-emotional interactions. The Junior PreKindergarten classroom is designed for various learning centers to offer guided experiences that encompass all the skills and understanding necessary for optimum development and academic success.
