Crèche teachers are not provided a "one size fits all" curriculum book with pre-written lesson plans. Instead, our teachers are specially trained to make purposeful observations through the daily program and take anecdotal notes about each child’s involvement in activities, focusing on their increasing development. Crèche teachers plan lessons tailored to the specific needs and interest of the children in their classroom.
Upon entering any of our classrooms, you will notice our teachers are down on the children's eye level. To best meet the children’s needs, Crèche teachers continuously modify their curriculum and approach; daily learning opportunities, class schedules, choice of materials, and teaching approaches. By meeting children where they are, we are able to make every interaction a meaningful learning opportunity.
A progressive portfolio is maintained for every child and includes work samples, anecdotal notes, and photos of the child engaged in activities. Teachers conduct observational and hands-on assessments throughout the year, which is used to establish ongoing goals for every child. Parents are provided informal updates on a weekly and monthly basis, with formal updates provided twice per year during parent-teacher conferences. Meetings like these are just part of the overall, ongoing communication Crèche parents have with their child's teacher.
