Makayla is from a small town in southeast Kansas, called Colony. She moved to Manhattan in 2018 to attend Kansas State University and graduated in December 2021 with her Bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders. Some of the courses that helped her grow as a teacher include Childhood Development, Early Childhood Education, Infant Development, Helping Children through Adversity and Stress, and Teaching Strategies to Enhance Transitions and Nonverbal Communication. During college, she also worked with the Boys & Girls Club for two years as a Kindergarten and 1st Grade Program Leader.
Makayla joined Team Crèche in January of 2020 as an Assistant Teacher in the infant classroom at the Heritage Square campus. For the past two years, she has served as Assistant Director and Lead Teacher of the infant classroom at The Cradle
During her free time, Makayla enjoys reading, being outdoors, and spending time with her pups. Growing up with several younger siblings and cousins, she has always had a passion for working with children.
Makayla loves teaching, helping, and guiding infants to reach and master their developmental milestones throughout their first year of life. She looks forward to being a part of each child’s journey and getting to know their family better.
"I love getting to watch these little ones learn and grow each day. The smiles on their face when they learn a new skill is beyond comparison. Having the opportunity to build connections with the children and their families is incredibly rewarding."
