Our Nutrition Program
Each meal served at Creche is prepared to assure quality, freshness, and nutritional value. All foods are family and child-friendly, and prepared fresh, using healthy alternatives. Meals are served family style so children receive initial portions and can ask for more. Children are encouraged to serve themselves if they are able to do so. Teachers sit at the table with the children during meal times to model proper table manners. All meals begin with a basic non-denominational prayer. Children are encouraged to participate in prayer; however, are never forced to do so.
Creche employs an in-house Registered Dietitian who preserves guidelines set forth by NAEYC Accreditation and the Department of Early Learning. Pediatric Nutrition Specialist, Hilary, was born and raised in Kansas, and discovered an interest in health and nutrition began at a young age. She recalls giving presentations about the food groups when she was in elementary school, but her interest didn't stop there. Hilary later went on to receive her Bachelor’s Degree in Dietetics from Kansas State University, then completed the requirements to become a Registered Dietitian.
Hilary's career as a dietitian began in a hospital setting, where she realized how important it is to create and maintain healthy habits early in life, rather than trying to change them later due to illness. As a result, this experience cultivated her interest in pediatric nutrition. Hilary turned her focus to families with infants and children under age five. This provided her extensive experience in breastfeeding, infant and toddler feeding, and childhood nutrition. She has first-hand knowledge of special dietary needs such as allergies/intolerance, tube feedings, and weight management.
Acknowledging the importance of finding a balance of all food types, while developing a healthy relationship with food and eating early in life are Hilary's guiding principles. Her past experiences have specialized her skill set to empower parents and caregivers with nutrition guidance for happy, healthy eaters.
